Casino industry raises over £45,000 for the Red Cross and Responsibility in Gambling Trust

The inaugural Casino Ball, held at the Dorchester Hotel in London on 24th January, has raised over £45,000 for its designated charities, the Red Cross and Responsibility in Gambling Trust.

Coinciding with the International Casino Exhibition at Earls Court, the Casino Ball was the first of its kind to be organised by the British casino industry nearly forty years after the introduction of the 1968 Gambling Act.

The Ball, organised by the British Casino Association on behalf of all UK casino operators, was attended by 420 guests filling the Dorchester ballroom to capacity. Guests, came from all over the world & were treated to a sneak preview of the Rio de Janeiro Carnival’s costumes by the dancing troupe Yes Brazil! The evening was electrified by the sensational soul diva, Jocelyn Brown and the All Stars, who rocked the Ballroom into the night!

Introducing the charity auction, Lady Cobham, (Chairman of the British Casino Association & Trustee of RIGT) thanked the generous sponsors of the evening Clermont Leisure, Aspers and Clarion Gaming, and welcomed operators from Europe, and the USA. In her address, Lady Cobham noted that Britain’s casino industry retains a worldwide reputation for honesty and probity and expressed the hope that, in rolling out the final pieces of the 2005 Gambling Act, the Government would support the continued responsible growth of a key element of Britain’s leisure industry.
